BIRTH SESSION

I CAN’T WAIT TO HELP YOU TELL THE STORY OF YOUR BIRTH.

Birth photography serves as a powerful way to commemorate one of life’s most profound moments, providing families with tangible memories that celebrate the strength, love, and beauty of childbirth. It involves capturing the raw, emotional, and intimate aspects of the birthing process, including the physical and emotional journey of the birthing mother, the support from family and medical professionals, and the first moments of bonding with your newborn.

Since I was young, I’ve always wanted to be a mom and had a passion for women’s health. That led me to my first career as a postpartum RN, helping moms at their most vulnerable. Shortly after the birth of my daughter I started my photography business, left nursing, and fell in love with motherhood sessions. Capturing the love that moms have for their little ones is the greatest joy. After the beautiful birth of my second, I decided to fully commit to my passion for birth and all things motherhood.

A little bit about me and why I chose birth photography…

My promise to you is to honour your birthing space with love and respect, free of judgement. Having witnessed many births as an RN, experiencing one traumatic birth and one transformative and beautiful birth myself, I know how sacred your space is. I know the ups and downs of labour and deliveries from a medical and personal perspective.

My promise to you

I believe a birth photographer's role is to respectfully witness the birthing process, focusing on capturing the inherent strength and love of your birth story. During your birth I will not direct or interact, and will honour your birthing team. Above all, I will deeply honor the wishes of the birthing mother, ensuring a protected and supportive environment. If needed, I'm ready to provide assistance and support to family members, while maintaining the sanctity of the birthing space.

 FAQs

  • You should call me as soon as you know you are in labour between the hours of 7am-11pm. If your labour begins in the middle of the night, call me when you need me to come. Keep in mind that I may need up to 2-3 hours to secure child care and make it to your location.

I will try to arrive to your location when active labour starts, when you are about 6-7cm dilated. After birth I will stay for about 2 hours in order to document examination, weighing, cuddles and first feeding.

  • I will be there for whatever I am allowed to be. If I am allowed in the OR I will come in to capture that, or will meet you after your recovery to document those special moments.

  • Speaking as someone who has experienced a traumatic birth, I hope this doesn't happen. However, in this case, I will document what is necessary and stay out of the way of medical professionals. If asked to leave I will politely do so. This is your birth, and I am there for whatever you need to make you feel empowered and safe.

  • If I miss the birth because your labour was fast, I will still come to your place of birth to document as much of your story as I can. If I have missed too much, I will be happy to offer a second session for you at a later date. This can be a Fresh 48 session, intimate motherhood session or family session.

  • Absolutely NOT without your permission. Your privacy is of the utmost importance to me and will be respected. Although I would love to share your birth story to normalize birth and help others feel empowered, I will not do so without asking your permission first. In the case that you feel comfortable for me to share, I will select what I believe to be the most respectful and positive images.

  • I will send previews within 24-48 hours, and the full gallery within 4-6 weeks.

Let’s create memories together.
